God's Love and The Runaway Bunny
In the Bible, it is God's loving-kindness that will not let Israel go. Not even all of Israel's persistent waywardness could ever destroy it. You could rightly say that the entire Old Testament is story after story of how although God's people are faithless, God remains faithful still. This steady, persistent refusal of God to wash His hands of wayward Israel is the essential meaning of the Hebrew word Chesed.
